So I have been looking at buying a album on Amazon. I have pretty much stopped buying CDs unless they are offering something that I cannot get from the download alone, such as it being signed.
As you can see from the image right in this particular case it would be cheaper to buy the CD and throw it away than buy the MP3’s alone.
In fact I wouldn’t even need to rip the CD as Amazon would also kindly supply a FREE MP3 version of the album too.
Madness!
I’ve noticed the same thing on occasion. I guess this is what happens when you use automatic pricing mechanisms that work independently of each other.
Do you think that there is a business in this? I could buy the CD, keep the download, then sell the CD on eBay – I could be quids in!
