For the second year running we are back at Center Parcs Longleat for a family holiday. This year there are two more of us than there were last year as we now have a second granddaughter and our younger son is here too. It’s really nice to get the whole family together like this and it is also the first time that Mat has had an opportunity to meet his new niece.
We all set off from different places and at different times to fit our schedules. We were the first to arrive with our eldest granddaughter in tow. Unfortunately, after six plus weeks of glorious sunshine the weather looks mixed this week and was wet as we arrived (as I type this it is currently hammering it down). This, of course, meant that everyone was congregating in the covered areas and on changeover days (Mondays and Fridays) there are twice the people making it rather crowded.
Our granddaughter is an energetic three year old who has just learned to ride a bike (with stabilisers) so we thought that we should hire a couple of bikes for the adults to use to accompany her. I remember the cycle centre of old being heaving with people waiting to collect their bikes, not today though as we sailed straight in. I don’t know whether we just chose a good time or whether people just aren’t using bikes as a method to get round any more. Shanks’s pony is more than possible here but it’s a bit hilly. Either way the cycle centre was stuffed full of bikes as you can see from the picture in the header.
Trying to satisfy a group of people that ranges from an active three year old to a sedentary 50 something taking in a very active 30 year old in between is proving something of a challenge. The only thing that we an realistically all do together is go to the swimming pool so we are separating to find age appropriate activites. This does mean that I am not going to cup cake making which is a great shame!
