Center Parcs 2023 – Day One – Why’s it wet?

If you live in the UK, you will have been enjoying the excellent weather over the last six weeks. This week we are making our annual pilgrimage to Center Parcs and, as is now traditional, all that changed as almost literally as we drove through the entrance the drizzle started.

That’s three years in a row now that’s happened so I have decided that as a public service, I am going publish the dates of any future visits here so that you can avoid coming then and getting wet.

You can stand under my umbrella

That stands for pool

Before Helen and I retired we talked about taking the family away to celebrate. So this year, as I have now (semi) retired and Helen retired a couple of years ago, we decided to come to Center Parcs but upgrade our lodge. Originally we were going to splash out and rent a treehouse but for whatever reason they weren’t available which turned out to be good news as the next villa down was half the price!

This place includes four bedrooms all with en suites, sauna and steam room, hot tub, and a games room with a pool table. The latter has been a big hit with the four year old in our party!

The lodge is well appointed but showing signs of wear and tear – as you walk up the downpipe is broken so the aforementioned rain spills out over the path, the heated towel rails needed an engineer call-out to get them to work and the oven is a nightmare to light. All small things but when your clothes are soaking wet and needing drying and you’re hungry and want to heat your pizza they all matter. Hopefully, things will improve from here on in.

And that rhymes with “P” and that stands for pool!
