We’ve just come back from a week away at Center Parcs (again) but this time I did not blog each and every day as there’s only so much you can say. However, I did think I would do a sort of wrap-up single post. And this is it!
Having been to Longleat the last few times we’d decided to switch to Sherwood Forest this time principally because we believed that it was (relatively) flat there. Longleat is lovely but very hilly which makes cycling difficult especially if you are only four and just starting out on a bike. In some places in Longleat it is so steep that your not allow to cycle there.
In some senses this was a bit of a punt as the last time we’d been to Sherwood Forest our eldest son had been about eight and now we were there with him and his two children who are four and two! I did wonder if our minds were playing tricks on us and it would turn out to be just as steep as Longleat but, fortunately, that turned out not to be the case.
Sherwood Forest is the first of the UK Center Parcs opened in 1987 and I did wonder whether it might be a bit tired but it has obviously been refurbished relatively recently and looked pretty good. It differs from Longleat in that the bit with the shops and restaurants is open and we all agreed that we liked this better. Other than that the places and offerings are virtually identical.
Despite it taking twice as long to reach Sherwood it was definitely worth the switch just to see our four-year-old granddaughter be able to bomb around the car-less streets on her bike having a whale of a time. We’ll be back for more next year.
*I do have pictures of the above frame with people in it but you know, privacy and all that.
